I have an 89 Australian built 4x4 and upgraded the stock wheel pack from
15x6 to steel sunrasia 16x7 with BFG AT 245/70
My problem is when I go off road I tend to damage the steering linkages and
was wondering if anyone out there has experienced the same and has come
across a solution
The tie rod ends tend to bend at extreme lock causing the alingment to go
out. The idler arm which holds the left side steer linkages tend to bend
backwards wreaking all havoc, so is there an upgrade to sure up the
steering.
As an offroader the wagon has potential but I am over replacing the idler
and tie rod ends every time I take it off road.
I also note I am doing sub extreme terrain like 35 degree rock climbs but I
do take it easy and limit wheel spin.
I have a bro in california whom I can get US parts if you know somthing then
please letme know.
TIA

Found my solution to be a fabricated brace to support the Idler arm using
two pieces of thick right angle steel, 90 degree mitre cut and weld and
drill two holes for the brace to sit on the Idler bolts and one for the
bottom of the Idler joint, makes sense and works a treat.
Got this info with pictures off a web site called off-road.com they also
recommend a beefed up aftermarket Idler arm called a MOOG to which looks
pretty neat but I am a cheapskate so my home job will do just fine
