Has there been any improvement since 2002 in the transmission of the
Spec-V? Drove one back then and transmission shift feel was terrible.

The transmission was updated in the 2003 model year when all ratios but 2nd,
including the final drive, were modified. Ratios are:

Gear Type: 6-Speed Manual with Overdrive
in conjunction w/ a Helical Limited Slip Differential
Clutch Type: Single Dry Disc
1st Gear Ratio 3.153:1
2nd Gear 1.944:1
3rd 1.392:1
4th 1.055:1
5th 0.809:1
6th 0.673:1
Final Drive 4.133:1
Reverse 3.002:1

If the shifter feels imprecise, there is a NISMO short shifter available.  It
can be ordered from the Nissan parts department.

So I guess what you're saying is that Nissan has fixed some of the
objections in that transmission. Does the shifter still feel so notchy?

Basically you are asking if you will like driving the car.  Best way to find
out is to test drive it.

You could also ask on web forums like http://forums.thevboard.com/ and
http://www.b15sentra.net/ .

Good luck.

Of course it feels notchy

Its like trying to shove 10 pounds of sh.t in a 5 pound bag.

The transmission case on the 6 speed is smaller than that of a five speed

So things had to be engineered in such a way to make things work for all you
so called "drivers" out there.

But is it still like it was a few years ago?
