Window goes down but won't come back up...

not without a fight anyway.  One day I rolled down my driver's side window
and it refused to come back up. I had to grab the edge and pull it before
the power kicked back in and it rolled up on it's own. Now, if I roll it
down more than a couple of inches it gets stuck and I have to pull it to get
it started.  Should I just take it to my dealer and pay an arm and a leg to
get it fixed or can this be handled by any auto repair shop?  Is it anything
that I can look into myself?

Can you please tell if you work for Nissan, and is it directly or as a
dealer, or what.  I just wonder if Nissan Corp hHAS THEIR OWN PEOPLE ON THIS
NEWSGROUP, I am not to cause any problems/complains, the opposite - I like
your company, just wonder.

Because wsith IBM and Microsfot, my other two things, I know THEIR OWN
PEOPLE sometimes answer my quests which is always most trusted since it
comes from the company itself.

Or is it just you chose "Nissantech" nickname by yourself and not really
working for Nissan Corp?

I'm the original poster. I don't work for Nissan and I signed my post "kkb"
not "Nissantech."  I think the response below was intended for another
message. Anybody care to address my problem with my window?

Thanks,
kkb

Probably not, since you don't care to share your year, make, and model.

I’m having this problem also with my ’99 Altima. All the windows go
down no problem, but the drivers side won’t go up unless you really
pull the window-up button HARD..even then it takes a few seconds to
come up, and its really annoying. Any tips? Anyone else have this
problem?

someone posted that silicone spray in the window channels helps

on the few electric windows I have messed with there is a spring which
assists the motor to raise the window. If this spring is broke or come loose
the motor alone may not have the power to raise the window.
Another problem that comes to mind is that the cog may be fouled up a little
with rust or muck. the door panel is easy to take off apart from the plastic
sheet which is held on by some sticky gunk. but any repair shop should be
able to fix it if you dont feel confident enough to have a look yourself.
