I don't plan on changing it myself as I have so many other hobbies and
interests that I can't know everything about everything. I have designed
and built two large houses and two cottages with one house in less than ten
weeks from clearing land to moving in. Everything takes work and money.
Anyway I noticed that the maintenance book said to change the timing belt at
160,000 kms. Is this necessary at this time? Are there any signs that show
it is needed or not? If I did it myself it would take more than 10 weeks
and not be done right, lol.
Are there are Nissan sites that list areas with Nissan car clubs to work on
things together? Canada or US?
Thanks,

there are really no signs the timing belt is about to go , they just go.
that's why Nissan has a recommended mileage and time interval for timing
belt service.
As you may know If the belt breaks the chances of major engine damage are
great.
The cost of a timing belt job here in the states runs about 300 bucks, if a
water pump is needed that's extra. If cam seals are needed , that's extra
too.
It sounds like the vehicle has served you well and it's time to give
something back.
