I have a 96 Pathfinder with 132K miles on it. With no wrning it has
completely died. The engin does not turn over, no noises at all, no
lights, the auto locks won’t work, CD won’t eject (that may be the
worst - new Springsteen CD trapped inside)-- nothing. The battery is
less than 2 mos old; starter is less than a year old. Any suggestions
as to what may be the cause? thanks

The last time that happened to me, the battery had come apart internally -
IIRC, it wasn't a very old battery either.
Can you jump start it? If so, the problem is the battery or loose/corroded
battery cables. If not, you probably blew a fuse or a fusible link.

I also have the same problem in my 96 SE Pathfinder. The common
denominator here was that I was also leaving a CD in the player over
night, when I did that, the battery would be dead the next morning. I
started ejecting the CD and removing it from the player and I haven’t
had a dead battery since. Strange resolution, but I believe that is
the same problem you are having. The Audio system recieves power
when the car is not running or on assessory.
