'93 Pathy brakes: Pedal moves on it's own?

My brother's '93 Pathfinder has an odd problem. When he lightly taps the
brakes the pedal moves down away from his foot a good inch and a half on
it's own before coming back up. I think that the only thing that could cause
that is a flakey brake booster but that's just a guess. Any other
suggestions?

Odd problem is right... never heard of that one before. Why don't you
try removing vacuum from the booster... and see if that changes
anything.

Yeah the day after I posted I suggested he disconnected the vacuum line from
the booster and see what happens. The brakes then worked fine (well, as fine
as they could on a truck with 33" Swampers and no brake booster). He has
since removed the booster and found it half full of water (due to his recent
swimmig incident). I'm surprised the damn thing was working at all. It was
kinda freaky seeing the brakes apply all by themselves.  ;o)
