R Reg Nissan Almera hatchback (petrol) will not start, when ignition turned
engine warning light flashes, all other indications normal but no solenoid
click or starter spin. Car was running fine, stopped at shop on return
above symptoms shown.

I had the same problem too!
My local official nissan garage replaced the series of all camshaft sensors
(but it was during warranty period).

After 2 weeks i received a letter from Nissan Italy who advised me about
that possible event of the sensors and suggested me to go to an authorized
nissan garage to replace them for free.
