Japanese car with a jap manual :( Hence the following questions.

Had it 8 months. It's an automatic and has done around 71KM and
everything has been fine. It sat in the garage since parked Friday
night. Cold weekend down to 0 degrees C. Monday morning. Turned
ignition..

Didn't fire but turned over a few times..Heard what I think was the
starter motor trying to turn the engine. A new light came on the
dashboard ( Red ) that I don't know what it does..It sits bottom left
of the normal warning lights covering oil, battery, check enginer.
Looks like an exhaust with 3 wavy vertical lines above it?

Kept turning it over and got the feeling it was trying to do
something..After about 10 secs it caught..Car was fine and everything
appeared normal. Did notice the revs dipped a little now and again at
traffic lights or when idling.

She's started fine twice today, no indication of that new Red light..

Can anyone shed some possibilities as to 1) What the little exhaust
symbol means...I've googled everywhere but can't locate it.

and 2) Is this a battery or more likely a charging / alternator issue?

Thanks

Ged

Sounds like the warning light for the catalytic converter, although they're
usually orange, and come on when the cat. is overheated. (I think)

Greg.
