my 94 pathfinder has a problem where sometimes when i start it, and drive
off, it will stutter and run poorly, its hard to explain, on accelleration
it sputters and sounds like its missing a cylinder or two, when coasting its
fine, this doesnt happen all the time, just once in awhile, ive done a full
tune up with oem parts , any clues?

i guess its mostly when cold, also seems to be in how i start the vehicle,
if i hop in and turn the key to ignition right away, it seems to cause the
problem more than when i turn the key slowly and wait for the fuel pump to
make noise first then start it

another problem is something that happens all the time, when i gun the
engine, before it shifts to the next gear, it will bog way down and lack
power, meaning, i accelerate hard and near the shift range bog and stutter,
its a nice suv but seems to lack power

maybe a worn fuel pump.  have you heard a change in fuel pump noise
recently?
have the fuel pressure measured.
could also be the fuel pressure regulator.
have you noticed a longer crank time to start up, with turning the key
directly to start?
if you prime the pump a few times (key to ign, back off, then to ign
position), does it start quicker?
Sly - 01 Jul 2005 17:17 GMT
doesnt seem to start asquickly as id think it would, fuel pump sounds normal

Fuel pump weakness then failure are not uncommon on nissan quest vans, I
replaced one on '95 quest with 120K mi a few years ago.
Pump noise was a high pitch wine, which I thought was nominal.
May want to have the problem looked at or it may leave you stranded.  My
died right after tank fillup at station.

just had the same problem, called out mobile tuner.not very good news, needs
new throttle body.
£400,from nissan,£100,on ebay,
Sly - 03 Jul 2005 18:29 GMT
if its the throttle body at fault,m and the problem is only intermittant,
then isnt there some individual part at fault on the throttle body like a
position sensor or that screen thingy inside or something instead of buying
the whole throttle body? it just  doesnt seem that my throttle body is at
fault to me
