Hi all,

Just bought an 05 Sentra.  Anything special to look out for?  Seems like a
well built car and so far (180 miles) it has been a joy to drive.
I plan on doing all of the maintenance myself including the warrantee
maintenance such as oil changes etc.  The dealer told me that if I buy the
filters from them that they will have a record of my maintenance habits and
that my warrantee won't be voided.  Sound true to you guys?

Thanks,

Djay

You have to buy anything from your local dealer.  Just keep receipts of
all the parts/supplies you buy an keep a nice log of all the work you
do (preventative or otherwise).  This way you have all the records in
case you need to take it in for warranty work.  I use genuine Nissan
parts for all maintenance and other work on my vechicle.  There are
various discount Nissan parts dealers online (e.g. midwaypartsteam.com,
courtesyparts.com).  I buy expendables (oil filters, air filters, etc.)
from them in bulk for convenience.

Cheers and enjoy your new car!

I agree that keeping the records is the way to go.  Put everything in a
folder as soon as you get the receipt home.  I use a software program
designed to keep all the service records, which also evn lets you scan the
receipt to make a JPEG file which can be attached to the service record.  I
have kept track of every gallon of gas put into this Sentra, which by the
way is 6,989 gallons!  Also all the Preventive Maintenance and repair
maintenance.

You should get 10 years+ out of it with good driving and good maintenance.

That's great!  I have kept good care/records for another car I bought new in
98.  I was planning on doing the same for this car.   What is the sw program
you use to keep your records?

Hey I used to live in North College Hill!

I use Automotive Wolf.  I looked at a lot of them and it seemed to be the
best all around.  The guy that wrote it updates it frequently and the
upgrades are free.  I think I started with version 2.1 or so and now it's up
to 4.491.  The last digit was a little teak he needed to make because it was
designed for only 500 gasoline purchases.  I passed that a long time ago.
LOL.

Hey you did live nearby, I grew up in Delhi but I live in Franklin (south of
Dayton) now.

Thanks Mark!

I'll check it out.  Delhi huh?  I used to work for a construction (repair
remodeling company) co. that often worked in the delhi and price hill area.
I live in kalifornia now... what a change in culture!  give me some skyline!
