I have an 94 Nissan Sentra.....on some occasions the car will sputter
a lot in the lower gears (1 and 2) when giving it gas to get it going
from a stop.  While its sputtering ill give it more gas to get it
going and after a short pause it will then really rev up almost like
it has the pedal to the floor the whole time.  The one particular
thing about it is that ive noticed it almost exclusively has this
problem after my car has been sitting out in the rain or snow.  Im
curious if maybe moisture is getting into the transmission but i wasnt
sure if that would have any effect or whether it was even possible.
Everything else about the car is fine....i regularliy change the oil
and oil filter...spark plugs look good...air filter is brand new.

Sounds more like an ignition or fuel system problem to me, have you replaced
the plug wires and fuel filter?
When the sputtering happens, if you put the trans into neutral does it clear
up or keep missing?
The rain or snow thing makes me think the wires might be arcing, and maybe
the dist. cap needs replacing as well.

Good luck...
