Where's the turn signal flasher in an '01 3.5L Pathfinder?

I want to replace it with a louder one, but I sure can't find it.  I can
hear it (when the car isn't running), some place above the driver's left
knee.
But no matter how much I stand on my head, I can't see it, I can't feel it.
Where the heck is it?   And is there any trick to getting it out.

Thanx

It's probably clipped onto the metal frame of the steering column.
You're looking in the right place.

Remove lower trim panel below the steering wheel.

them remove the metal reinforcement plate and then start looking for a small
black box about 2 inches square that has the word Niles printed on it.

The connector should have 3 wires going into it

Thanks.  Found it, didn't have to remove anything,  It was sure hidden,
exactly on the other
side of something from any angle of view.  Unfortunately the "louder"
flasher isn't much
louder. I'll give it a try, but I suspect I'll end up wiring a piezo beeper
to it.
