i'm new at this and am having a problem:  last year i rolled my pathfinder
and it rested on the driver side in a ditch in winter. by the time it was
turned over, i believe, some electrical damage was done.  the latest
problem is the passenger side front door remains locked and will not
unlock - i do have power locks and using that button does not open that
door lock - the key does not open it either.  i have a nissan pathfinder
repair manual but do not understand it.  is there anyone out that that can
tell me (outside of taking it in to get repaired - dire straits with money
now) what i can do?  i checked under the steering wheel at all the wiring
and made sure all that i could see was plugged in.  all other doors work
ok.

If the key doesn't open it, it's likely mechanical not electrical. Take
the door panel off and take a look.

He didn't say, but I wonder if he had a body shop repair the damage. If
so, he should take the car back to the shop and have them repair the
door lock. I suspect that the locking/unlocking rod became unattached
when the car went over.

Yea, or maybe rust from laying in a ditch all winter.  Possibly dents
pushing in on something too?

So, lindalou, if you can get enough of a grasp of your repair manual to
figure out how to get the door panel off you might be able to see what the
problem is.  Could be as simple as spraying it with some WD-40 and working
it loose or putting something back in place.

You also might find instructions for your door locks on www.autozone.com/
under "repair guides."

Just be gentle if you decide to try to remove the door panel and if it won't
come off double check to make sure you got all the screws out.  Some panels
have pop-in plastic holders that go through holes and they can break easily
if you are not careful.  Others fit into slots so you don't want to force
anything.

ok-thank all of you for your responses but the problem is this:  its been 8
months since i rolled the vehicle (it rolled over onto the drivers door,
didnt stay rolled over more than 2 hours b4 it was righted) and the
passenger door lock (not the drivers side lock - that works ok)had been
working fine till now.  And what the main problem now is that i cannot get
the door panel off to get to the lock because i cannot open the door to do
so.. the car does have power locks and am considering jerking out that
mechanism to see if that would help - but dont think it will.  someone
suggested i get one of those tools the police use to open a door thru the
window but dont know where to get that either.  any other ideas for me?
its getting really tiring climbing over that console every time to get
into/outof the passenger seat
