sentra spec V fuel question

I have a 05 sentra spec v.  The owners manual states that premium fuel is
"recomended".   Whould there be any long term damage the car if i run
regular 87 gas in it?  Gas at 2.99 a gal is getting to be a little much.

I think the reason they say that is that the SpecV has a more agressive
timing curve. If you use a lesser fuel... you run the risk of pinging
and pre-ignition internal damage to the engine.
