It's time for new tires on my '02 PF.  The original tire size is P245
65R17.

My speedometer is presently off (fast) by about 3-4 MPH at 70 MPH.
When the speedometer says 70 MPH, I'm actually going about 67 MPH.

I've read that there's an optional tire size that will make the
speedometer more accurate, but I can't find the article and I don't
know the optional size.  Does anyone out there know?

Thanks.

Interestingly, this speed off by 3-4 mph or 5-6kph comes up once in while in
the BMW group.
They claim that their cars are also off by similar amounts and that this is
done intentionally by the Manufacturer to  ensure that they cannot be held
accountable for your speeding.

In other words, it's in the design.

Hmmmmm, I wonder.

My 01 Pathfinder is off by the same amount, and my Jetta was too.  I've also
heard that the manufacturers do it on purpose, rather than having error in
the other direction (i.e. the speedo reading slower than you're actually
going).
