I have checked the distributor cap and changed the spark plugs. The coils
and associated transistors appear to be fine. The fuel punp is outputting
40 PSI so I assume it is correct althiugh I thiught 20PSI was more in line.
I can't determine if it is a fuel or ignition related problem. Don't want
to spend a fortune to find it. Can anyone help with this problem. It
starts and idles perfectly then as the revs pick up in each gear it starts
to buck wildly. If you go to the next gear it runs smoothly again until the
revs hit Approx. 2500-3000(I don't have a tach). At my wits end!

You probably already replaced the fuel filter?
I'd check to make sure that pressure is correct - too much pressure can
cause problems as well. Not sure where your fuel pressure regulator would be
located, though.

I could be wrong but it sounds like the computer is putting the motor in
"safe mode".

the most common problem is a bad injector or open circuit to an injector
