Probably not. Check your owner's manual. Most 4x4's require bearing
service if the wheels are submerged above the hubs.
if you routinely get into water above the hubs you will need to check the
bearings and seals regularly, I'd say about every 15,000 miles or so you
should inspect , clean and repack the bearings and replace and bearings that
are showing signs of damage.
and be sure to use new seals too.

My mechanic just told me that the wheel bearings on my 2001 QX4 cant be
repacked. He said the wheel bearings are supposed to be replaced and
not repacked. Could you shed any light on this for me?

I would imagine they are the sealed type bearings and they are not
designed for repacking if they dry out they simply need replacement.
Many vehicles are using these now because they usually do last longer
but unfortunately when they do fail they are more expensive. It is
possible to repack most of these sealed bearings but it is a very
tedious task and the extra labor would cost more than the price of new
ones, besides if they were making any noise the damage is already done
anyway's.
