OK I want to clearly understand, your header states will not idle. how
does it perform while driving at contsant speed or during
acceleration. A bad mass air sensor often wont throw a code but in my
experience in the cases they idle fine just whene you try to drive
they cause problems. on the other hand I have found debrise fallen
down ontop of the port for the mass airflow sensor which will cuase
eratic engine speeds at idle. if this is your case you can remove the
sensor and gently blow or shake to remove trash. this is a super
sensitive sensore so you need to be gentle with it. if you are
experiencing problems other than idle only you should check the coils
and IC for both coils, they are common failures as well. the hot box
mounted over the coils often rust out and then the rust starts to work
on the coils and IC units. you mentioned that you replaced the
distibutor but what about the cap and rotor. corosion in the cap where
the wires connect is often overlooked becuas it is only visible after
puling each wire off the cap. did this problem gradualy appear or was
it instant?

i pulled off the airfow sensor and checked it visualy and it looks fine.
there is nothing blocing it. it all started when i was leaving work.
it was running fine. i drove about 1 mile and it had problems ideling but
drove fine. about 1 more mile later it would not idel but still drove
fine. by the time i got home having driven about 45 miles total it would
not idel and would not drive. when you are just sitting there you have
got to pump the gas to keep it running. you cannot just push down the gas
pedel and it runs. or i would drive with both feet... and as a side note
i replace the spark plug wires, roter and cap and spark plugs. , some air
hose for the vacume lines, air filter, and fuel filter. (including the one
in the fuel tank) I am still stumped on this one...

Does this truck have the mass flow sensor connected by a flex hose to
the intake manifold?

Sounds just like when my MAF died on my 94 Altima... either that or a leak
causing air to get in past the MAF.
