Hi,
Left side headlight went out on a 2001 Pathfinder. Replaced the
bulb, no change. Checked the fuses in the engine compartment and
in the dash area, all looked good. The daytime running lights work and
so do the high beams, just the low beam is dead. Could this be the
fusible link? If so what's the best way to remove them. They have a
blue cap is it just the blap cap that comes off or the whole piece?
any help appreciated :-)

2001 PF service manual shows no fusible links in the headlight circuit.
It does show a fuse for each side, but that fuse runs both high and low
beams
on its side, so since the high beams work, the fuse is good.  Ditto for the
two headlamp relays.

Best guess from looking at the schematics is the switch.  Unplug the L head
lamp.  Turn the lighs on low beam.  Check to see of you have continuity from
terminal 3 (Red with white stripe wire) to ground.  If you don't, it's
probably
the switch.

The fusible links pull out simillar to a fuse and replace the hole
peice. First check that you have lost power at the headlight socket. I
have repaired many of the sockets becaus the terminal was pushed back
out of the socket not allowing contact to the bulb terminals. I think
there is a TSB on this. you can check for aplicable TSB's and recalls
on AllDATA's site but you have to pay to get the procedures of the
repair.
