Spray it with some penetrating oil (croyl, etc) and let it soak for a
while. Then tap the screwdriver head with a hammer and carefully loosen
it, all the while exerting pressure on the screwdriver head.
If that doesn't work, you could borrow or buy(sears) an impact
screwdriver. This turns the screwdriver when you bang on it with a
hammer - if that doesn't get it out, you may need to put some heat to
it (torch)

A very good point, Andy - I assumed the carb was off and drained.
The impact screwdriver gets loose the most stubborn of screw. If
there's still fuel in the area, still be careful as a small spark from
that tool could set off a fire.
