Took the Pathfinder to dealer today to find out why service engine light was
back on, was told that the oil was very dirty and was unusually low and this
triggered the light. I had checked the oil a month ago and it was also low
then, so low there was no sign of oil on dip stick. Put in 1 liter and all
of the sudden its more than full. Any one else with this problem? Also
whirring noise only at start up for about 2 minutes than goes away, was told
this was normal and was the fan clutch? Anyone heard of this? Any insights?
Thanks

are you refering to the the strong loaud noice when you first start it up?
making the engine sound like its a V-8 or something? and goes away after a
few mins like 1 or 2? then the engine noise start sounding likes it a 4
cylender?

no this is a whir sound that which is not constant. It goes from a low sound
to a high sound and back to a low sound. The dealer said it is because the
shaft is not completely oil soaked until it warms up, 2 or 3 minutes. Sounds
more like the dealer might be giving me the shaft?
