Anyone have any experience with airbag type rear coil spring helpers? Such
as Firestone Coil Rite or AirLift 1000?

My 95 PF is squatting way too much in the rear when loaded and/or towing.
It's to the point where the rear hits the bump stops over most bumps. New
springs will likely help but I'm thinking of one of these airbag kits.

Do they make the improvements as claimed?

Thanks,
DS

I have the AirLift 1000s on my '02 PF.  I've been very happy with them.
I have the on-board compressor too and that makes it convenient to
adjust them.

You might also look at Timbren.  I've heard good things about them too
and they don't use air pressure.

Where did you mount your compressor?  Anything else you can share about
the installation would be helpful.  I bought an Airlift a few months ago
and just haven't gotten around to installing it, mostly because I
cannot come up with a great location for the compressor.  Thanks.

There's a triangular-shaped vertical surface, just in front of and left
of the spare tire.  I installed the compressor there, facing toward the
rear.  I had to remove the spare tire during the installation, but
afterwards, the compressor didn't interfere with the spare tire. The
compressor seems to be protected from splashing water there.  I mounted
the gauge/switch at the bottom of the dash, above my right leg.  It
doesn't interfere with my legs in that postion.  I installed a Scrader
valve at the bottom edge of the rear bumper cover.  It can't be seen
unless you get under the car, but if you know where it is, you can
easily reach it with an air hose.  If the compressor ever fails, I can
still add or reduce pressure.

Since the installation, the Airlifts have been trouble-free for almost
4 years and about 30,000 miles of towing.

Thank you for the post.  I will check it out!
