Hi,
My girlfriend has a 95 Pathfinder with all the trimmings. When she
bought the car it didnt come with the remote key-fab but it does have
an alarm. Ive tried the "insert key 6 times" bit to see if i could
verifiy that it does have a keyless entry system and i got nothing. I
read in another post about the alarm box under the seat and i did
infact find this.
My question is, did the factory alarm (the one with the box under the
drivers seat with a hole and button in it) use the standard key fab?
Such as the one found here:
http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/pathfinder/999U7-REMOTE.jpg
Or did it have a different remote?
Additionally, even though this alarm fits the description of the
factory alarm to the t, the switch on the center console dosent quite
match the other switches. It has a dealer installed feel to it. Is
this just the way it is?
Any help would be much appreciated.
-Thanks

That's what the fob for my '95 PF looked like, but there are fobs that look
the same, but are electrically different.
That's the bad news. The good news is that the programming procedure
is different. The following procedure worked for me SOMETIMES.
I'd have to repeat the procedure several times to get it to work.
- Record the frequencies the radio is set to.
- Turn off the alarm.
- Take the key out of the ignition.
- Close all doors and put the windows up.
- Disconnect the positive lead of the battery for for 15
seconds and reconnect.
- Open the driver's door.
- The alarm control box is under the driver's seat. There
is a hole in the top of it. Push down through the hole
until the alarm beep stops and a rythmic beep starts.
- Press the lock button on each remote once.
- Put the key in the ignition. Turn the ignition on and
back off.
- The remote should now work.
- Reprogram the buttons on the radio,
