What does the error code P01140 for a Nissan Sentra mean?

My Nissan Sentra 2000 GXE gave an error code P01140 - Manufacturer Foul
Air Temperature Metering. Even the mechanic did not know it off hand.
Could someone tell me what it means? And where I can find more data on
this specific error code?

Aren't the codes usuall four numeric digits (P1140? P0140?)

If you mean P1140, that is "IVT CONTROL POSITION SENSOR." That code
came up on my 2000 Sentra GXE. I replaced the sensor, and all was
well. It took a while to find the right part - my local Nissan dealer
had never heard of it. :) The part number for the sensor is
23731-5M015.
