When the defroster is running, I often hear this horrendous sqealing of the belt. Is the A.C. kicking in and causing this? What is wrong with it to cause this horrific noise? Thanks. Thanks. > > Peter Yes, the defroster turns on the A/C compressor to dry the air. It could be the belt is old and needs to be replaced, it's too loose, or your compressor could be seizing (in order of likelyhood).
