On my last road trip my 99 sentra with the 1.6 liter 4 banger, the
GA16DE motor, got 28 mpg for the entire tank. This was about 25% city
driving and 75% cruising on the highway at 70 to 90. Is that good?

I was thinking that this tiny motor would get better gas mileage. Of
course my cruising speeds were not optimal, but still.

What are others getting for this car?

I think you should be getting better mileage than that. My 93 XE got
around 34-35 mpg consistently and that was a combination of city-highway
driving a 90 mile round trip daily for 4 years. In the winter months the
mpg was a little lower, but never below 30 mpg. More like 32-33.

I once got 33 mpg measuring a fill up from half a tank. I live in the
NYC area with horrendous traffic, so my car doesn't stay in top gear
alot. I think that, and the fact that I cruise at more "enthusiastic"
velocities, would account for the difference between my mileage and yours.

I guess my car is at or very near optimal condition.

Thanks
