Hello,
I own a 2003 pathfinder with 55000KM on it and I was burning/consuming 1
litre of oil per 1000KM. The delearship replace to engine with a short
block 2000KM ago. I check the oil and I am down over 1/2 a litre still.
My question is, does anybody else have this problem with their 3.5 V6? No
leak apparent and no blue smoke
Any suggestions?
Thank's
Bob

My '01 doesn't burn a drop.
What's your warantee in kilometers? You ought to be close to the end of it
and need to make clear that this problem may not be fixed. It used to be not
uncommon for a new engine to burn some oil the first 1000 miles while things
were getting seated. Dunno if that's still the case, but see the dealer ASAP.
He's going to say "lets see what happens the next 2000 KM", but get it in writing.
Maybe the oil is getting into the cylinders via the heads. Bad valve seals
(will give a puff of blue smoke when you lift off the gas at high RPM), or
a crack, or something.

Go run it -hard-. The rings have probably never been seated.
