is the light orange/yellow or red? If it's not red, don't worry about
it. Just get it checked when you get back. The yellow light just
means something in your emissions system isn't playing nice. If it's
RED, STOP DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR. You risk
serious, possibly irrepairable, damage to your engine.
Also, a code reader will NOT tell you what is wrong. It will only
tell you what is *affected*. It still takes a good technician to
troubleshoot the problem.
If it's yellow, just about any full service station can run the code
for you. But like I said, if it's yellow (or orange in some cars),
the world isn't going to end if you drive the car with the light on.

Don't worry about it. If you were low on oil - the dash would tell
you -ditto for the brakes and overheat. If a sensor or module went bad, the
computer puts the system in "failsafe", which will keep your car healthy. I
have been driving with a service lite for six months--runs the same as it
ever did-Great.
