2001 Pathfinder keyless remote problem

I recently purchased a keyless remote for a Nissan 2001 Pathfinder.
Following the steps to program it, everything goes as expected until
the point where I need to push one of the remote buttons after which
the car is to respond with the flashers.  I've tried changing the
battery and the guy who sold me the remote claims he tested it before
he shipped it.  I looked for a "keyless remote" fuse but didn't find
one.  I think I found a "keyless remote" relay but I'm not sure.

Anybody have any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this without paying
a dealer a ton of money?

Thanks for any help provided

Best guess is maybe you're not using the correct procedure?  Try doing a
search on the internet and see if the procedure differs from what you're
doing.  Also, I think the vehicle can only remember a few FOBs at a time
(like 3 or 4).  So if it's already been programmed for the max number of
FOBs you might have to reset them all (not sure how).

4 fobs per '01 PF.

There are two remotes for the '01 PF.  Same FCC ID.

One (uncommon,  but mine is), says Model/ A.
The more common one says Model/01A

They are not interchangeable.
