Nissan Pth Fndr 2001 - showing the engine repair light, didnt pass emissions
until I replace the 02 sensors.  does this actually chng the emissions? at
the emissions test facility they plug into the car computer...and hand me a
print out, is the car truly burning fuel poorly or are they just assuming
that the sensors should be replaced? I dont happen to have an extra 300-500
dollars for this and am not sure what to do.

What were the exact codes that were reported?

1. Yes O2 sensors do affect emissions - as the car's computer (the ECU)
uses readings from the o2 sensors to determine air-fuel mixtures.
2. If you are handy, you can replace o2 sensors yourself.  They run
about 100 bucks a piece.

hey thanks for the input, I went online and found lots of 02 sensors ranging
from 100 + how do I know which to get, a friend said he'd install it but then
said there was a top and a bottom on each side, so wasn't sure how to know
which ones to replace. any suggestions
