My 90 Nissan Sentra exhibits the same exact problems. Maybe some relay
is bad? I see spark, I have dumped 1/4 gasoline down the throttle
Body Injection throat. It goes erra erra, erra, almost seems to
want to start but not quite. Changed out the ignition coil ($45)
because in the dark at night time I saw spark jump from Ignition coil
output to the metal core of the ignition transformer. Still no change
after changing the ignition coil. Will now change out the wire going
from ignition coil to rotor cap. When using a timing light, I
noticed a double flash on spark plug wire 1 and spark plug wire 4.
But maybe that was just a problem with the timing light
pickup clamp??? AndyJ would like to hear of your solution if you
find one. Seems on the 90 Nissan Maxima that the ECU relay goes bad.

PROBLEM SOLVED so to speak. It's not good. It turned out
to be the timing chain. I had removed the valve cover and
turned the engine over to see if the rockers were moving they were.
And the chain was spinning and had tension. However, apparently,
allegedly, so said MIDAS for $40 it had come out of alignment on the
bottom where one can't see it just by pulling the valve cover. The way
they came to this conclusion was to hook it up to a timing gun and
follow normal procedure for adjusting timing. Because they couldn't
get it to fall within spec. So they arrived to the conclusion that is
the
chain. Good Luck! Mines going to the salvage yard! And is it just me
or are people asking WAY too much for a used HONDA :)
