98 maxima keyless entry remote

I just recently bought a nissan keyless entry remote for my car and it
doesnt seem to always work...Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt
and I have to use the key to get into my car...Maybe I did it
wrong...Can someone offer any assistance...Thanks

If it has the 12V battery, range should not be the problem. My nissan
trerrano has a 3V battery in the key and the range is severly limited in
the city. ( you have to place the key in a certain position relative to
the truck) However when you get away from civilization it works fine.
