I have a 96 pathfinder and after this weekend I am not sure if I have a LSD like I thought I did. I got high centered on abour 3 feet of crusty snow and got out and while in 4 x 4 the front left tire spun and the right rear wheel spun. Either in forward or reverse it was the same... 1. I have a 96.5 pathfinder se with black bumper, rear wheel carrier, and drum brakes. Do I have the LSD? 2. If I do is this correct behavoir for a LSD? Is there something I can do to make the power change to the other wheel in the rear diff when slipping, like tap the brakes? Thanks! If the other one turns in the same direction, you have LSD. LSD works by keeping the fronts together, or the rears, not one front and one rear. E Meyer suggested a good way to tell if you have LSD or not. My '02 PF has an orange sticker on the back of the differential that says "Use LSD Oil Only". Of course the sticker may have come off, but if you have one, you likely have LSD.
