Hi,
wife has a '03 Frontier, bigcab, 4cyl, auto. has a problem, I call it
"key challenged". can get out at blockbuster to dump dvd's and lock
herself out. (impossible on older '91). called the dealer about a set
of spare keys and the parts guy starts telling me about transponder keys
and big $$$$$!!!!!

the Frontier didn't get transponder keys till '05.
any mechanics, parts guys that can give me the straight info?

Have a key made without the trasponder in it (available at Home Depot amoung
other places). Leave it some place outside the car where it is available by
anyone, (although you should hide it under something like a bumper or under
a fender). This key can be used to open the doors but will fail to start the
car and this is what you want when you lock your keys in the car.

The 03 Frontier 4 banger does not use transponder key's, the parts guy is
incorrect.

thanks guys for the replies. had 2 extra keys made at a locksmith store
for $7.60.
