91 Nissan Terrano - parts availability in NA

I am considering importing a JDM Terrano turbo diesel but I'm wondering
about parts availability. I'm assuming that almost all parts are in common
with North American Pathfinders of the same vintage. However, the
transmission (manual) and engine are certainly different. Will it be
possible to get engine and transmission parts here in Canada? Or will they
all have to be ordered from Japan? And am I right in my assumption about
other parts?

Just to add on this, I have done extensive web searching and I have not been
able to find a supplier for an suitable oil filter for a Nissan 2.7 Turbo
Diesel. I really don't want to have to order parts directly from Japan or
Australia.
