I recently bought a Nissan Xtrail 4WD manual transmission. The dealer
service prices seem to me to be really high. Has anyone had any experience
with having the same or similar vehicles serviced and repaired by licensed
mechanics who do not work for Nissan dealerships. I am concerned about the
quality of the work and also any problems getting warranty work done by
Nissan at a later date.

Found a local mech about 15 years ago who does top-notch work at fair
prices.  He has YET to let me down.  All his guys are ASE certified
and most have been there as long as I've been going there.  There are
still reputable mechanics out there - rare - but still out there.

I can't see Nissan giving you crap over warranty issues if you've kept
the maintenance up per the owner's manual whether a Nissan dealer does
it or a mom 'n pop shop does it.
