I own a 1997 Pathfinder XE. My blower motor works intermittently. Some
days it does not run at all. Other days it works fine. Sometimes, it
doesn't work when I start up the truck but after driving a few miles
the blower will turn on. I took out the blower motor resistor and it
was rusty and really worn. I ordered a new resistor and relay. Any
other ideas?

those are the first two things i would have checked, the relays and the
resistor that is, next I would check the control sitch

From what i know of Super Chargers (blowers) A roots type
supercharger is commonly called a blower Roots superchargers are
usually large and sit on top of the engine. They are popular in muscle
cars and hot rods because they stick out of the hood of the car.
However, they are the least efficient supercharger for two reasons:
They add more weight to the vehicle and they move air in discrete
bursts instead of in a smooth and continuous flow.  So if it's working
intermeittently or seemingly It eaither has a broke gear or it's not
broke at all.

WTF does a supercharger (Roots, lysholm/twin screw and/or centrifugal)
have to do with the BLOWER MOTOR for the OP's ventilation system???

I took off the glove box today and unscrewed the blower motor.  I can
find the blower motor resistor but where is the blower motor relay?

One of the fuse boxes, either under the hood or under the dash, refer
to your owners manual if possible to find the exact relay number

While it's off take the cover off the bottom, undo the screws that
hold the motor end cover on and remove the end cover.  Check the
brushes and commutator.

If you have a pollen filter you won't have this problem.

Rotor at top is scrap as commutator worn past recovery. Brushes are on
RHS, worn very short. It's end cap and the whole brush space was
choked full of chaff. Replacement secondhand fan's rotor at bottom,
it's brushes at LHS and chaff in this one's end cap in centre.  Caught
it just in time.

Nissan fitted a hose between outlet duct and commutator end of motor.
It's to allow the fan to suck cool air though the motor but drags
finely chopped chaff into the commutator.
