1996 Nissan Pathfinder Where the heck is the filter?

I just got my 96 4x4 Pathfinder a month ago and it needs an oil
change...so I go about changing it and low and behold...I cannot find
the filter. I have the book out but cannot locate it. Any helpful
hints on finding this thing???????????

Look at the front center of the engine, possible hidden from below by a
splash shield.

I have a 94 Pathfinder 4x4 and i know it is hard to get at. You have to crawl
underneath. One place I took it to to get the oil changed removed the kick
plate underneath the engine of the vehicle as they thought that was how you
got to it. It is NOT necessary to do that however, but that should give you
an idea where to look! My advice would be to take it in ti have it done.
Cause it is a pain to get at!!
