We love our 2005 AWD SL.  The only problem we've had with it is an
intermittent dash rattle the service dept here can't seem to find (and
it's very intermittent).

I was a bit concerned a couple of months after purchasing it because I
could only find one manufacturer making tires for it (Goodyear)...but I
just checked a couple of days ago and see Michelin's now got a tire to
fit.

Ours has just about every option except stability control...they
couldn't find one with Navigation and that when we bought it last year.

We've got just about 18,000 miles on it already.

I had a dash rattle in my maxima. It turned out to be the heat shield
covering the cat converter.

I have an 03 with 104K.  Just put on the first set of brakes (didn't have to
turn the rotors) and am having a tranny/rad service along with a plug change
tomorrow.  The only repairs I've had are a drivers side window system
failed, the oil pan rusted and developed a leak (kind of weird isn't it???)
and a seal in the left front wheel had to be replaced.

I've had zero mechanical problems - this being Nissan #13 for me.

I've only had my Mo for around 2 mo. now.  Ab-so-lute-ly love it! It's
pre-owned but was well taken care of.  I can not say enough about how
pleased I am with it.  I'd rather be in it than my house!  :)

I have 105K on my 03 Murano AWD.  It represents my 13th Nissan.  I love the
vehicle, but I'll give you my honest opinion.

I've spent more $$$ on the Murano than my previous 12 Nissan's combined!
However with that said, I have still had excellent service.  Here's a list
of things I had to do out of pocket.

1.  New Struts - they literally came apart at 70K.
2.  New drivers window and controls.  It came off track and they had to
replace everything, including the motor.  VERY expensive.
3.  New oil pan.  It rusted so badly it started leaking.  Go figure - a
vehicle that has never been off road, and never been dragged over anything.
4.  Just replace a seal in left front (don't remember name) when I did the
first brake job at 103K which incidentally did not even require turning the
rotors.
5.  Just informed last week during a tune up that a seal between the tranny
and motor housing is leaking - $1045 to repair as very labor intensive
although the part is only a few dollars.
6.  I'm noticing rust.  The license plate screws absolutely cannot be
removed, to the extent that the dealer drilled holes in my plates and
reattached them in a new spot!!!!  I'm also finding a lot of rust present on
things around the engine such as metal parts, springs etc...

This car has NEVER been off road, is washed at least once a week (usually
automatic car wash), is sprayed or washed even during salty months unless
the car wash is closed due to low temps.

On the positive side, the CVT is AMAZING.  My favorite feature of the car.
The car has a taut ride compared to my Impala (my first American vehicle
since 1982) but continues to perform beautifully, does not use a drop of
oil, and consistently delivers 24mpg on the highway with 20 around town.
The mileage typically drops 2 around town and 1 on the highway if I don't
use premium gas.

No other problems or repairs, and I'm planning to keep it a while longer as
I have retired it to the wife's daily trek to work and am logging max
mileage on the Impala (which incidentally has performed without a single
repair at 35K).

Thanks Willy for all the info.  The only other Nissan I've owned is a
96 Altima SE 5-sp bought new.  Still have it.  It's been trouble free.
It only has 80k mi. on it tho.

My Mo is an 04 2WD w/ 32k mi.  I will certainly keep an eye on the
trouble spots you've encountered.  I think this is the second incident
I've come across of a leak between the engine and tranny.  I saw one
on a Forum a couple of months ago.  Lets hope it's not too common.
I have one thing working in my favor.  I purchased an extended
warranty for 5 yrs/100k mi.  It has given me piece of mind. :)
This is the first time I've purchased a used vehicle in about 30 yrs.
You never know what you're buying, unless it's from someone you know.

The CVT is what makes this vehicle what it is.  Sweeeeeet.  Without
this, it might be,, just another SUV.  Besides this tho, it's sooo
comfy.  It feels very roomy up front.  The seats are the most
comfortable I've ever owned.  (I suspect the previous owner was a big
man, and has them broken-in reeal good :)  There seems to be extra
seat height-to floor, which adds to comfort and that spacious feeling.

The ride is good for me.  I'm used to a little stiffer ride, and
prefer it.  I get a better feel this way.  Not that it's all that
ruff, it just doesn't compare to my wife's Solara. And it
shouldn't/couldn't.

I looking forward to many yrs of enjoyable ownership.

I think I'll go for a ride......  <g>

I have a 2004 with a lot of bells and whistles.  I love my car, but wouldn't
pay for another navigation system that was factory equiped.  Not only is the
system DVD based and not active, when you need to update the map (as things
do change), I was told the update disc was about $700.  Obscene.  Better to
buy one from the store and just put it on your dash - plus you may be able to
find things while you are driving and not have to pull over to enable a
change or start in destinations.  I understand the newer models don't have
the visability problems that are present in the older models.
