My son in law has a 2005 Infiniti M45. It's a fantastic car (wish I
could afford one...), with every option in the book. We were talking
about oil changes the other day; I use nothing but Mobil 1 in all of my
vehicles. He agreed, but he said his dealer told him explicitly that he
is NOT supposed to use synthetic in that Infiniti. Note, he didn't say
"there's no difference," or "regular oil is fine," etc. He said DO NOT
use it. That doesn't make sense to me. Does anybody have any idea
where this guy was coming from, or was he just plain wrong?

His dealer must not stock synthetic. There isn't ANY compatibility
differences between synthetic and dino oils. The only thing you must
always be sure of is using the proper weights.
