Last week I had new front brakes put on my 97 4x4 PU. The brake job
included turning the rotors and was done at my regular service station,
not at Nissan. I hadn't driven more than a hundred miles since the brake
job, and they were just short trips to shops, etc.
All was well until last night when I took a 7 mile trip to the store.
Just before arriving at the store, I felt a pull to the left while going
straight ahead. I thought it was the left front tire going flat, but
when I pulled into the parking lot, I checked and it was OK.
Driving home, it was constantly pulling to the left and when I applied
the brakes, the steering wheel jerked to the right for a second. I tried
this a number of times with the same results. Within a few miles of
home, I started smelling the brakes. When I got home, the left front
brakes were smoking. I will contact the SS tomorrow, but was looking for
a head start on what the problem might be. I got a feeling that the
brake fluid equalizer valve is not working.

When you get old, time flies. The brake job was done 3 weeks ago.

Just as an update.
This morning, I inspected the brake reservoir and all the fluid lines
for leaks or irregularities. I found nothing amiss. I jacked up the left
front side of the truck to pull the wheel to see if I could see anything
wrong in there. Before I got to removing the lug nuts, I found I could
spin the wheel with very little resistance, meaning the brake was no
longer dragging. I pressed on the brake pedal a few times to see if the
brake would lock up, but after each release of the pedal, the caliper
released its grip on the rotor. I then took the truck for a short ride,
applying the brakes numerous times during the trip. I braked going
forward and braked backing up, and couldn't get the brake to lock up as
it did last night.  I'll still take it in to the service station
tomorrow to see if they can figure it out. If it did once, it may do it
again, and the next time I might not be so close to home.

were the calipers overehauled? could even be the rubber brake hose.
