Daughter getting brake job next month 34k mileage. No problem with brakes
pulsing etc dealer wants to change rotors. Is this necessary at 34k mileage
presuming no unusual wear on rotors?

Thanks

shouldn't be at 34k unless they are warped beyond repair, didn't change
the front rotors on my 92 SE-R till it had 115,000 on it.

It depends upon the brake usage and how hard the brakes are used. I've
seen people ride the brakes constantly (their reflexes must not be too
good). I've seen others brake everytime they see a car coming the other
way. I've also seen people accelerate up to a red light then brake hard
instead of coasting to the light before braking.
My 95 Sentra went to 70,000 before needing front brakes (disk front,
drums rear).

Thanks for the replies. I di believe I will advise her to pass on new rotors
and just get pads. I really think that rotor replacement merely a money
maker for dealer at this mileage.

The rotors should be turned to 'true' them up if pulsing.
Pulsing is a warning that Maximum breaking  (the pads are bouncing
over the surface) may not be available when you need it.

Replace is when there is excessive wear or multiple turnings :-/ or
cracks. Severely warped (beyond truing) is a 'defect' in my book.

My 2001 Sentra had warped rotors at 70K with half the pads left.
I brake very hard and then get off the pedal.  I have 90K on rear
brakes and not close to needing replacement.

Nobody but dealers replace rotors when there is no vibration felt through
the steering while braking.
