My Nissan Terrano II 2.7TD will not start. The problem looked fairly
simple as it seemed to be a flat battery i.e engine cranking slowly but
not strongly enough to start, then eventually would not crank. Both the
battery and starter motor were changed and exactly the same happened.
It starts perfectly with a tow and with cable directly to the starter
motor and once started runs as normal, begining to give up on this one.
Any ideas?

Corroded wires going from the battery to the starter maybe...Look for green
tell tale sign on the wires or by touching and twisting the wires they feel
soft at a spot. What about the starter relay? Corrosion could be your
trouble.
Hope this help.
