I have a 1992 Sentra with 250,000 miles. Yes, that's the correct
mileage but it's been such a good car I hate to see it go. I'm not
sure which transmission it has but it's an overdrive transmission with
the OD off button on the gearshift. The name badges were not on it
when I bought it so I don't know if it's an XE, GXE, or what. The
engine is a 1.6L. It goes into drive and pulls fine from a stop but it
never shifts into 2nd, 3rd, or OD. One thing I did notice is that when
I let off the gas completely, it acts normally. The engine doesn't try
to slow the car down like when it's in 1st gear on the shifter. I've
read several other posts suggesting it might be a bad governor gear.
If so, how much can I get the part for? Could it be anything else?
Thanks,
Chris

That's great! So where is it located? I only have a Haynes manual,
which shows very little about the transmission.

Get the fsm here http://www.turbo6.net/vqtech/ESM/Nissan/Sentra/ . get
the 1994 Sentra (same B13 as 1992). look in at.pdf for breakdown of
components.
