Hi all,
There is a rattle in my steering wheel when I turn corners, and the horn
occasionally beeps as well during these turns. Of course I don't want to go
to the dealer or my usual repair shop just for loose screws/bolts. On the
other hand, the airbag is in there and deploying it accidentally would not
be too much fun either. Anyone ever deal with this problem? Thanks.

I had something like that in my 99 Altima. The airbag/horn part of the
wheel would rock forwards and back diagonally. The horn didn't beep, but
over bumps it would rattle a lot. I discovered by popping off the access
panels on the back of the wheel for the airbag that one of the 4 rubber
stops that the springs hold the airbag outward against had either fallen off
or broken.. so there was play in one corner causing the rattle.
I never did fix it, I didn't want to get into having the dealer take it all
apart, and I couldn't think of any way of solving the problem that didn't
risk popping the airbag in my face...
Maybe that'll help you at least identify the problem.

I had that problem in my '97 as well. Two indy mechanics didn't want
to deal with it, so it ended up at the dealership. They said they
removed a broken steering damper and charged me an hour of labor.
