I bought a 1991 Pathfinder back in July, and the first thing I noticed
was that the high beams didn't work. When I'd try to turn them on, the
low beams would shut off, leaving me in the dark. I was packing up for
a trip to the ocean when I discovered that my left headlight was out.
I went to Wal-Mart, spent twenty bucks on some nice bulbs, and put
them in, switched on the lights to see if they worked properly, and
the left headlight was still out.

I've replaced fuses and I'm stumped on why my headlight won't work,
and neither will my brights. I'm looking for a fix to this before I
get pulled over again! (Twice in the last week!) Somebody help me out?

it needs a new headlight switch

It could well be a switch, as others pointed out. My '91 Pathfinder produced a
similar fault that was the result of corroded connections to right headlamp.
It resolved itself after the replacement of the connector.
