I don't have the equipment to do that sort of testing. My opinions are
solely based on look and feel and the simple things I can measure
(thickness of filter material, volume of filter material, weight of
filter material, etc.). Many filter marketing companies are very
closed mouth about actual performance parameters. I contacted most
major manufacturers, asked for performance data, and got almost
nothing. What I did get is included in the spread sheet you can
download. One thing I like about Wix was their willingness to supply
performance data. There are many other individuals who have done the
same thing as me, cut open filters to see what is on the inside, and
rated them based on look and feel. A few have also tried to measure
parameters. You might want to look at
http://www.peterverdonedesigns.com/oilfiltertest.htm and
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-86056.html. The
information I have presented is what it is and is mostly my opinion.
I am satisfied that the OE Nissan Filters are decent quality filters.
They may not be the absolute best filters (regardless of cost), but
they are certainly more than sufficient to protect your engine when
changed per the Nissans maintenance guidelines.
