Here's an update. Just rechecked the car and found that the left side
3 way catalytic converter (which has the bank 2 O2 sensor in its front
tube) is leaking at the top. So that's what triggered the code P0430.
Since I have to replace this converter (& it's out of warranty because
the car has 90K miles), has anyway had any success/trouble with
aftermarket converters? The best Nissan OEM price I could find was $625
while a direct fit aftermarket one from Eastern costs only $212.
Thanks.

The aftermarket converter will work fine.

An aftermarket cat will be fine. They must meet federal standards to
be sold in the US so there's no chance of getting some cheap
knockoff. The biggest problem in replacing the cat will be undoing
the bolts. Guaranteed they're all seized and will have to be
hacksawed out. Always use liberal amounts of anti-seize compound on
every thread and flange during assembly. Good luck. Al

There is a common problem of a leak in the front tube that Nissan has
a kit for $50 to fix. Make sure that's not really the problem before
springing for a new Cat.
