has anyone had to replace the "belt" on these newer
automatic transmissions?

does the operating or service manual indicate if the
"belt" can be changed?  or does the entire transmission
have to be replaced?

I assume you are talking about the CVT transmissions. The belt is not
a routinely replaced item. If it fails, the transmission will need to
be rebuilt or replaced.

do you have an info as to cost involved with replacing the belt
or transmission?  i am considering the purchase of a used
nissan versa, for a long term ownership.

I don't have that sort of information. You could call your local
Nissan dealership's service department. Are you sure the Versa you are
buying has the CVT transmission? The CVT is one of three options on
the Versa (manual, conventional automatic, CVT).

Just bought a Cube and asked the service manager this same question. The
XTronic CVT transmission can not be rebuilt. It has to be replaced if it
fails at a present cost of $4,000.00 US. According to a web forum I
found this seems to be true for all of Nissan's CVT transmissions. The
transmission fluid is $20.00 or there abouts per quart. BTW, the Cube
uses the Versa drive train.

I posted this earlier but it didn't show up on the group. Maybe this
time??
