Older Pathfinders! Deteriorating Spare Tire Lift Chain

Check the condition of the chain/lift device that secures the spare tire
especially if you haven't used the spare in a while. The chain in my '98
has deteriorated to a point where I really think it needs replacing. A
couple of the links are about half the thickness of the original. I
emailed Nissan a brief report but somehow I can't see them getting too
excited about it. Anyway, it's out there.

Beware and don't get too close when following older models. Pathfinders
that is!

So a 1998 is an Older, Deteriorating Model that you shouldn't follow too closely
in fear that parts will fall off of it?

Everyone, have some respect when sending out responses to a newsgroup.  Rude language is not
tolerated and has no purpose in this forum.  If someone does not like a persons response and wish to
give them a inspiring speech, reply to them directly if you have something inspiring to say.
I do like to read this news group for information and information only.  I don't care if some of the
subscribers don't get along.  I read all of the responses and use my own judgment if the procedure
is right or wrong.

ROFL!!  How long have you been on Usenet? If someone tells you off,
what are you going to do? Don't bother "reporting" them ISPs don't
care these days I know that for a fact, especially Comcrap. They are
all too busy with spam problems.

No problem like that on my 92PF, where the spare tire is bolted
to the tire carrier. ;-)
Maybe you should have bought an SE model, or moved to the other
side of the country - out here we don't use much salt on the roads
in the 'winter' :-)

Well that's interesting.  I know someone with an 88 Dakota and it
shows no sign of that little problem.
